Cabañas Rio Yambala – Vilcabamba (Ecuador)

During my three-months stay in Ecuador, I spent a couple of days in Vilcabamba. If you ever get the chance to go there, I would definitely recommend doing so. Make sure to stay at Cabañas Rio Yambala though. Why? See for yourself…

Aotearoa – New Zealand´s North Island (Part 1)

Located in the Pacific Ocean about 1500 kilometers east of Australia, Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud, is a very diverse and extraordinary piece of land. The grass seems to be greener than elsewhere, the sheep more numerous than anything else and the beaches much prettier than those you have visited before. Having lived in New Zealand for almost two years, I had the chance to return to the most beautiful country in the world in 2010. Here are some of my favorite shots of a two-week North Island tour.

From “Ugly as” to “As nice as it gets” in a week

You might have been wondering why my last post is 8 days old. Well, I didn´t have time to write anything because we set out to renovate our old and rather ugly office. From now on we will be working in the two most beautiful offices in the world. Painting and decoration was up to me, so guess what color we went for….right… Go GREEN =) Here are the steps from “ugly as” to “as nice as it gets” in a week.

Abysmal Depths of Humanity

Have you ever experienced people going far beyond what you imaged them to be ready to do in order to reach their goals? I don´t mean pushing themselves beyond their personal limits but pushing others out of their way. Well, I have. It does not make you feel good – that´s for sure. Here are some famous quotes dealing with the reasons for the abysmal depths of humanity: power, stupidity and envy….and how to deal with it.

Bali – facets of Indonesia

Bali, an Indonesian island situated between Java and Lombok, is less than 150 km long and only 50 km wide. Nevertheless, it offers a plethora of different landscapes ranging from long, white beaches to rice terraces and volcanoes. I experienced Balinese people to be friendly and open-minded when backpacking their island. More than 90% of them are Hindus and immolate neatly-made boxes filled with flowers every day before they eat in order to praise their gods. Here are some of my favorite pictures. Enjoy Bali =)

Berlin – visiting Germany´s capital

With a population of almost 3.5 million and an area of nearly 900 square kilometres, Berlin is not only Germany´s capital but also its biggest city. Thanks to its plentiful sights, museums and cultural diversity, Berlin is popular with tourists from all over the world. I was one of the approximately 11 million tourists per year and here are some of the pics I took and edited with my iPhone 4S using the Camera+ App. Enjoy Berlin =)

Spend your money on traveling

When learning Spanish in Ecuador, one of the first sayings I was taught by my host mother was “La plata mejor gastada es la plata de los viajes” which translates into “The money best spent is the money spent on traveling”. I am sure that most of you agree. Here are some more of my favorite pictures.

Photographs worth looking at…

Everybody takes pictures. Some take thousands, others take very few. Some take pictures using their smartphone, others use high end equipment worth thousands of dollars. Whatever gadget you use, photographs can be virtually anything: astonishing, fascinating, breathtaking, amazing, shocking, horrible, disgusting, funny, …you name it. Since I love taking pictures, I make sure to take my camera (a rather cheap one by the way) wherever possible, especially when I travel. Here are some of my favorite photographs. I am nowhere near being a photographer, but I think it´s worth taking a look. See for yourselves…
