Aotearoa – New Zealand´s North Island Reloaded

The Máori call the North Island of New Zealand “Te Ika-a-Māui”, “the fish of Maui”. Legend claims that Maui was an untalented fisherman who hid in his brothers´boat to join them on their fishing trip. They refused to give him bait, so he broke his nose and used his blood on his grandmother´s magic jawbone to catch fish.
