Aotearoa – New Zealand´s North Island Reloaded

The Máori call the North Island of New Zealand “Te Ika-a-Māui”, “the fish of Maui”. Legend claims that Maui was an untalented fisherman who hid in his brothers´boat to join them on their fishing trip. They refused to give him bait, so he broke his nose and used his blood on his grandmother´s magic jawbone to catch fish. He ended up pulling up a really big one – the North Island =) Whether you believe the story or not, here are more beautiful pics taken in Te Ika-a-Māui….

Aotearoa – New Zealand´s North Island (Part 1)

Located in the Pacific Ocean about 1500 kilometers east of Australia, Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud, is a very diverse and extraordinary piece of land. The grass seems to be greener than elsewhere, the sheep more numerous than anything else and the beaches much prettier than those you have visited before. Having lived in New Zealand for almost two years, I had the chance to return to the most beautiful country in the world in 2010. Here are some of my favorite shots of a two-week North Island tour.
