If you ever visit Ecuador, make sure to get close to paradise and spend some time on las Islas Galápagos. It is definitely one of the most thrilling experiences I have ever made. This volcanic archipelago and jaw-dropping national park is located in the Pacific Ocean about 1000 km west of Ecuador. Follow Charles Darwin and check out the amazing variety of endemic species found on these beautiful islands.
Flying in from Quito, Ecuador´s capital, I spent almost 3 weeks on the Galápagos Islands doing a cruise and spending some time on Isla Santa Cruz and Isla San Cristóbal. In case you would like to do a tour, too, make sure to book ahead. Both flights and the number of cruises are limited. It pays to spend more money and do a cruise on a medium-sized boat with an experienced guide. In case you tend to get seasick or suffer from motion sickness in general, you better go for the really big cruise liners or you will end up feeding fish rather than enjoying the islands.
Here are some of my favorite pictures taken during my time on las Islas Galápagos. Enjoy!
