Coco de Mer – the plant holding three botanical records

The coconut palm called “Coco de Mer” is endemic to the islands of Praslin and Curieuse in the Seychelles and holds three botanical records: largest seed, largest fruit and largest female flower. The Coco de Mer seed weighs up to 17.6 kg, the largest fruit was recorded with 42 kg and the largest female flower grows to a length of 1 m.
