From yarning Captains to SOPA and 270g of life

This week taught us that some people  accidentally fall into life boats, while the internet scares some politicians so badly that they desperately try to censor it. Besides, terror threatens Africa, while a charismatic skier ends his career and baby Melinda teaches her doctors a lesson. Last but not least even some of Hollywood´s dream couples split up…

Bali – facets of Indonesia

Bali, an Indonesian island situated between Java and Lombok, is less than 150 km long and only 50 km wide. Nevertheless, it offers a plethora of different landscapes ranging from long, white beaches to rice terraces and volcanoes. I experienced Balinese people to be friendly and open-minded when backpacking their island. More than 90% of them are Hindus and immolate neatly-made boxes filled with flowers every day before they eat in order to praise their gods. Here are some of my favorite pictures. Enjoy Bali =)

Street Artists – Julian Beever and Bansky

When walking the streets of big cities, one frequently comes across various forms of art. This might include anything from graffiti to sculptures, wheatpasting and poster art. Occasionally, people do huge chalk paintings on the sidewalks or in pedestrian zones. Even though all this art can be great, I think it has nothing on the work of two very famous and very special street artists whose work I consider to be brilliant. See for yourself whether you also appreciate the art of the pavement Picasso Julian Beever and  Bansky.

With a population of almost 3.5 million and an area of nearly 900 square kilometres, Berlin is not only Germany´s capital but also its biggest city. Thanks to its plentiful sights, museums and cultural diversity, Berlin is popular with tourists from all over the world. I was one of the approximately 11 million tourists per year and here are some of the pics I took and edited with my iPhone 4S using the Camera+ App. Enjoy Berlin =)

It all comes down to WORDS….play “Wild Word Garden” or “Word Crunch” and check it out

From time to time I enjoy training my brain while playing games. For some of them it pays to be good at maths, others focus on your memorizing skills. I would like to introduce you to two free online games hat test your ability to either form words from a given set of letters or find hidden words in a letter square. In both cases you better be fast and able to think hard under pressure. Give it a go and train your language-related brain skills. It´s fun!
